Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 6 August 2026
1. Introduction and Purpose
This Affiliate Disclosure (“Disclosure”) explains how Tones & Tells (“Tones & Tells”, “the Platform”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses affiliate marketing links and arrangements across tonesandtells.com (the “Platform”) and how this may result in commission being earned on purchases made through those links.
We are committed to transparency with our users about how the Platform operates commercially. This Disclosure is intended to be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Website Terms & Conditions and Creator/Contributor Terms, and Cookie Policy (which explains the tracking technologies used to attribute affiliate commission), each of which forms part of the wider terms governing use of the Platform.
This Disclosure applies to all areas of the Platform where affiliate links, creator recommendations, or third-party product or service links appear, including but not limited to creator content displayed on the Platform, blog posts, reviews, comparison pages, product recommendations, newsletters, and email communications.
2. What Affiliate Links Are
Affiliate marketing is an arrangement under which a website or individual earns commission by directing users, via a tracked link, to a third-party retailer or brand. If a user makes a qualifying purchase after following such a link, the operator of the affiliate link — or in some cases, the creator who shared it — may receive a commission from the retailer or brand.
Tones & Tells operates as a recommendation and discovery platform for parenting and family-related content. Creators publish recommendation content on their own social media channels and selected content is displayed on the Platform. Where that content includes a link to a third-party retailer’s product or service, that link may be an affiliate link.
Importantly, the Platform does not process payments or complete transactions itself. Any purchase made after following a link from the Platform takes place entirely on the third-party retailer’s own website, under that retailer’s own terms, payment systems, and policies.
Using an affiliate link on the Platform never costs the user anything beyond the standard price charged by the retailer. Any commission earned is paid by the retailer or brand out of its own marketing budget and is not added to the price the user pays.
3. Affiliate Relationships
Tones & Tells participates in affiliate programmes and works with affiliate networks, including Impact, which connect the Platform and its creators with participating retailers and brands. As at the date of this Disclosure, Impact is used by the Platform for affiliate account verification purposes; live affiliate links via this network are anticipated but not yet active.
Affiliate links on the Platform may relate to a range of brands, retailers, products, and services relevant to parenting and family life. We do not maintain an exhaustive published list of every affiliate partner, as participating retailers and brands may change from time to time.
Affiliate relationships are commercial arrangements between Tones & Tells (and/or its creators) and the relevant retailer, brand, or affiliate network. They do not involve any joint venture, partnership, agency, or employment relationship between Tones & Tells and the retailers or brands concerned.
4. Compensation Disclosure
Commission may be earned where a user clicks an affiliate link displayed on the Platform and goes on to make a qualifying purchase with the relevant retailer in accordance with that retailer’s or affiliate network’s own terms.
During the Platform’s current testing and early-access phase, commission earned through affiliate links is passed in full to the creator who shared the relevant content and Tones & Tells does not currently retain any portion of that commission. This position may change in the future, including following any transition to a confirmed commission-sharing structure between Tones & Tells and creators, in which case this Disclosure will be updated accordingly. The method of tracking, calculating, and paying commission is still being tested and may vary depending on the affiliate network, retailer, or service provider involved.
Compensation arrangements may take a number of forms depending on the retailer or affiliate network involved, including a percentage of the sale price, a fixed fee per qualifying action, or other incentives offered by the retailer or network from time to time.
Use of an affiliate link on the Platform never results in any additional cost, fee, or charge to the user. The price paid by the user is set by the retailer and is unaffected by whether a purchase is made via an affiliate link or directly.
Where referral or reward arrangements exist between Tones & Tells and its creators, these are governed separately by our Creator/Contributor Terms and are not matters in which Platform users have any direct involvement.
5. Editorial Independence
The presence of an affiliate link does not by itself indicate that a product or service has been endorsed, tested, or independently verified by Tones & Tells.
Recommendations, reviews, and content displayed on the Platform originate from individual creators, who retain editorial responsibility for the views, opinions, and recommendations they express. The availability of affiliate commission on a given link does not guarantee a favourable review and creators are not required to recommend a product or service solely because an affiliate arrangement exists.
We encourage users to treat all recommendations — whether or not they include affiliate links — as one source of information among others and to apply their own judgement when making purchasing decisions.
6. Product and Service Recommendations
Recommendations displayed on the Platform are based on content shared by creators and may reflect personal opinion, experience, or preference. They are not a substitute for the user’s own research into a product or service’s suitability for their particular circumstances.
Users remain solely responsible for their own purchasing decisions. Tones & Tells does not guarantee that any product or service recommended via the Platform will be suitable, safe, or appropriate for any particular user, child, or family circumstance.
Where a recommendation relates to products intended for use by or with children, users should independently check current safety standards, age guidance, and manufacturer instructions before purchase or use, regardless of any recommendation made on the Platform.
7. Consumer Transparency Statement
Tones & Tells is committed to clear and honest disclosure of its commercial interests, in line with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code requirements on identifying advertising and commercial relationships, and the Competition and Markets Authority’s guidance on online reviews and recommendations.
Where reasonably practicable, affiliate or sponsored content displayed on the Platform will be appropriately labelled (for example, using wording such as “affiliate link”, “contains affiliate links”, or similar) so that users can identify where a commercial relationship may exist.
We expect creators contributing content to the Platform to disclose their own affiliate or commercial relationships in accordance with applicable advertising standards and the Creator/Contributor Terms.
8. Affiliate Links Throughout the Platform
Affiliate links may appear in any part of the Platform where third-party products or services are referenced or recommended, including (without limitation):
- creator content displayed on the Platform;
- blog posts and articles;
- reviews and comparison pages;
- curated product or service recommendations;
- newsletters and email marketing communications; and
- where applicable, social media content linking back to the Platform.
This Disclosure applies wherever affiliate links appear on the Platform, regardless of the specific page, format, or content type in which they are found.
9. Third-Party Websites and Products
Affiliate links direct users away from the Platform to third-party websites operated by retailers or brands over which Tones & Tells has no control. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, security, products, services, pricing, or business practices of any third-party website. This is without prejudice to, and should be read together with, the Limitation of Liability section below.
Tones & Tells is not a party to any transaction between a user and a third-party retailer. Any purchase, contract, payment, delivery, return, refund, or complaint relating to a product or service obtained via an affiliate link is a matter solely between the user and the relevant retailer, subject to that retailer’s own terms and conditions.
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement, warranty, or representation by Tones & Tells as to the third party, its products, or its services.
10. No Professional Advice
Content on the Platform, including creator recommendations, is provided for general information purposes only and does not constitute professional, medical, safety, legal, or financial advice.
Users should independently verify the suitability of any product or service before purchase or use, and should seek appropriate professional advice where relevant, particularly in relation to products intended for use by children or in matters of health and safety.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Tones & Tells accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from a user’s reliance on a recommendation, review, or other item of content created or shared by a creator and displayed on the Platform, or from a user’s purchase of, or transaction relating to, any product or service obtained via an affiliate link, save that nothing in this Disclosure excludes or limits Tones & Tells’ liability for loss or damage caused by its own negligence in operating the Platform.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or continued availability of any product, service, price, or offer referenced via an affiliate link, as these are controlled by the relevant third-party retailer and may change without notice.
Nothing in this Disclosure excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under English law.
12. Updates to This Disclosure
We may update this Disclosure from time to time to reflect changes in our affiliate arrangements, applicable law, or regulatory guidance. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this document indicates when it was last revised.
Continued use of the Platform following any update to this Disclosure constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Disclosure, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it (including non-contractual disputes or claims), is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with this Disclosure, save that if a user is a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom, that user may bring proceedings in the courts of their place of residence in addition to the courts of England and Wales.
14. Severability
If any provision of this Disclosure is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be deemed deleted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful, and enforceable, and the remaining provisions of this Disclosure will continue in full force and effect.
